If you have a portable television that you use when your power goes out, it will probably need to be replaced before the DTV transition in 2009. Check to see if your portable TV has a digital tuner. If not, you will need to buy a new portable digital TV to stay connected in case of emergencies.
Will the DTV transition will effect portable TV’s? How is my portable TV is going to survive the DTV transition next February? I’m worried is my portable TV will still be in use after the DTV transition in February 2009 in case of emergency when the power goes out. Does this requires a DTV converter to connect to a portable TV?
That’s all I need to know about the DTV transition will effect portable TV’S.
Thank you. Sincerely,
Gerald Frazier
Your existing portable TV will more than likely stop working after the transition because it does not have the ability to receive DTV signals without adding a converter box. The converter box has to be plugged in to a power source, plus the built-in antenna most likely does not have the UHF capability needed to pull in DTV signals.
I know of one or two sets available online that say they will work after the transition, but you might want to do some searching on your own and at electronics stores to be sure.
